Meet the maker

I'm Isaac Monaghan, a luthier based in the Northern Rivers, NSW Australia. I’m a harp builder, musician, and father to a toddler, building from my workshop at home.

The harp has a voice unlike any other instrument - clear, resonant, and deeply expressive. For centuries its sound has been associated with reflection, beauty, and healing. To me, the resonance of the strings carry an ancient memory that connects us to places within ourselves beyond time.

It is with this reverence that I approach the craft. Each harp is built by hand and shaped with patience, love, and intention.

Harp building was not something I originally set out to do. I was already a musician, but the harp came into my life through a moment of following my heart - a story I look forward to sharing here in time. Things unfolded naturally, growing into a deep respect and care for the craft.

I build with carefully selected Australian and exotic timbers, chosen for their aesthetics and tonal qualities. Unlike large production lines, each harp is built to order in direct conversation with you from beginning to end.

Music has been a true source of healing in my own life. Through personal loss, I discovered the power of music as therapy and a way to move through deep emotion and express what words cannot. That understanding shapes everything I build.

I also share live sound meditation journeys, playing a range of instruments with the intention of creating spaces of peace, stillness, and inner connection. I am currently studying music therapy, continuing to explore the many ways music can support healing and wellbeing.

  • Together we refine the details of your instrument, including size, tone, and the timbers.
